Bridgend County Borough primary school pupils will be enjoying new healthier school meals from the 8 May. An improved new menu is being launched with a strong focus on fruit, vegetables and salads which will be served alongside nutritious main course meals.

New tasty lunchtime options include Ploughman's lunch, Lemon Sole Grill & organic chicken nuggets which are just some examples that will be served with potatoes, a choice of two seasonal vegetables, wholemeal bread and a fresh salad selection

To help encourage children to eat part of the recommended five portions of fruit and vegetables a selection of fresh fruit will be available daily as a dessert option.

Spokesperson for Catering Services Norma Griffiths
says: "We have worked to meet and exceed the Nutritional Standards set down by the Welsh Assembly and worked closely with suppliers and schools to develop not only a healthy balanced menu but one that will be positively received by the pupils.
