Food and Health Guidelines for Early Years & Childcare settings

These guidelines aim to address the shortage of information for the benefit of all Early Years Settings. They are designed primarily to be supportive to all those involved with children in the early years settings. It will help you to work towards both the Desirable Learning Outcomes and the Foundation Phase Framework for Children’s Learning.

The guidance is for providers of Childcare for children up to 5 years of age who provide food, including snacks and drinks. It will apply to a wide range of providers, including local authority nurseries, private nurseries, playgroups, childminders, toddler groups, crèches, family centres and integrated children centres, regardless of the length of time that children spend in childcare settings.

We Need Your Help....

The Family Information Service aims to provide up-to-date and relevant information. To do this we would like your help and suggestions:

  • Are there any children’s activities/clubs/events that you know about and think other parents would like to know about?
  • Have you got any events going on that you would like us to attend or put on the website?
  • Have you set up a parent and toddler group in your area?
  • What else you would like from our website?
  • Would you like the information in other formats rather than just text?

Whatever your suggestions please click 'contact us' or phone free on 0800 180 4320
